Binge This Week: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
There is nothing more fascinating than watching women strike out on their own and find success in my opinion. Even better is when it happens without these women seeking it. That is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. What starts out as a 1950s housewife loving her life, twists and turns into something so much more.
From the beginning you know that this show is going to be good when Midge (the marvelous Mrs. Maisel) offends her Rabbi at her wedding reception with a joke about shrimp in the eggrolls. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel explores what it was like to be a mid-century housewife living in NYC. While some would call them bored housewives, Midge Maisel couldn’t have loved her life more and was far from bored. Which she makes very clear from the get-go. From her fabulous home & wardrobe to her loving husband and beautiful kids, Midge seems to have it all. Until her husband, Joel, decides that this isn’t the life that he wants.
The fascinating journey that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show’s creator, takes you on to see how Midge handles this unplanned event in her very planned out life is mesmerizing. Not to mention hilarious. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is exactly the show we need to cozy up to during these long winter months. Lucky for us, season 2 is premiering December 5th. That is just enough time for you to binge season 1 if you haven’t already.
Trust me on this one, you want to be watching this show.
