My Current Obsessions

It has been way too long since I have posted anything on the blog. At the beginning of the new year I promised myself that I would keep a regular blog schedule, but then life happened. It has already been a crazy year and it is flying by. I cannot believe that it is the middle of March, but I think that I say that almost monthly. It just goes to show that you can’t put off the things that you want to pursue. For me, that is this blog.

So, I decided to get back into the groove with everything that I have been loving this week. Let’s do this!

Valentine’s Day Getaways

So instead of letting February be just another month on our way to warmer weather and fun events, let’s make it a month to celebrate. Last year I decided that I wanted to make more of a deal about holidays. Afterall, why do we have them if we aren’t going to enjoy them?

How To Take Control Of Your Finances

You’re worth it. You’re worth all of the money that you want to have. You’re worth double the money that you want to have. Change the way you talk to yourself. Instead of saying “I wish” say “I have”. I have money. I can afford that.

Denim on Denim

Over the years my style has altered based upon on my location and where I’m at in that point of my life. As I get older my number one priority when getting dressed is to be comfortable. I need to love the way my outfit looks and it needs to fit properly. Fit is the one of the reasons that I splurge a little on my wardrobe. My body is curvy (I have thicker thighs but my waist is smaller) and it is hard to find jeans that are comfortable and look nice.

My Favorite Things... This Week

So what can you look forward to during this weekly blog post? Anything & everything from books to clothes to food to whatever it is that has piqued my interest this week. Mostly, I want to share with you anything that has made my life better, easier or has entertained me over the past 7 days.

Happy New Year!

That’s what I’m doing in 2019, tapping into a version of myself that I haven’t met yet. Over the last year I have dug deep down into myself to figure out who I am and what makes me happy. It was a year of reflection, some serious hard talks and a few pity parties. All of that brought me to the conclusion: 2019 has a lot to offer!

Thank You, 2018

After reflecting back on 2018, I can see how I didn’t reach any of my goals. I wasn’t ready. I was still in the “excuse making” phase of my journey. I told myself that I deserved a break. I told myself that tomorrow I would do better. I told myself a lot of things to make up for the fact that I wasn’t doing what I knew I needed to do in order to succeed.

4 Money Lessons I Learned In 2018

Here is another Monday Money Monologue talking about the money lessons that I’ve learned in 2018. For some reason, I have to learn things the hard way. It is an irritating trait that I’ve had since I was little. Because of this, I’ve included a little tip after each lesson to help you from making the same mistakes as me.

Binge This Week: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

The fascinating journey that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show’s creator, takes you on to see how Midge handles this unplanned event in her very planned out life is mesmerizing. Not to mention hilarious. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is exactly the show we need to cozy up to during these long winter months. Lucky for us, season 2 is premiering December 5th. That is just enough time for you to binge season 1 if you haven’t already.

A Brief History of Tweed to Help You Choose the Best Tweed Jacket

So how did tweed become mainstream?: The royals, obviously! There’s not enough time to get started on my love for all things royal family, but I was not surprised when I read that Prince Albert turned tweed fashionable in 1848. When Prince Albert purchased Balmoral in Scotland he designed the very first Estate Tweed, which is similar to Scottish Clan Tartans.

Is Revolve the Next Victoria's Secret?

Oh, Revolve. The retail powerhouse that I will never understand. Through what I can only imagine was years of continuous hard work and well implemented influencer strategies, Revolve has made it’s mark on the millenial generation and the online shopping world. The company has established itself as a contender, one that is not going away, one that has proven to be successful. However, they just can’t seem to understand that the world is not inhabited by women that are all a size 2. Revolve, when are you going to board the size inclusive train? It’s time.

Last Minute Labor Day Getaways in the Midwest

My favorite season is quickly approaching. Autumn is in the air and before you know it we'll all be bundled in our plaid scarves and fall boots. But first, one last hoorah! Labor Day weekend is upon us and I’m a huge proponent of taking advantage of long weekends. So I’ve put together some last minute day or weekend trips that require little-to-no planning.

Handling Anxiety While Trying To Create a Successful Life

Do you ever look at the successful people around you, or on social media, and wonder how they do it all? How do these women have kids, run multi-million dollar companies, look amazing and still appear to have their shit together? Are none of them freaking out on the inside? Do successful women mask their anxiety, or do they just not have it at all?

How to Keep Commitments to Yourself

Lately I have noticed that a lot of the tasks on my lists do not get crossed off or keep getting pushed to the next day’s list. These are obviously important tasks or else I wouldn’t have written them down, right? Things like train for the half marathon, clean the shower, fold the laundry, write. These tasks are necessary to my well-being. Yet I find reasons why they cannot be accomplished at their set times on my list.
